Why is Dad So Mad?

Education, Transition, Military, and Children

by Seth Kastle (Author)-March 19, 2015

This resource, recommended by the TCKI Education team, addresses issues of parents who may be experiencing the effects of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). This book is designed to help children cope with and talk through their feelings. It gives children a fresh perspective on how to approach a Mom or Dad who is struggling with PTSD.

The story is a narrative told from a family’s point of view (mother and children) of a service member who struggles with PTSD and its symptoms. Many sufferers of PTSD deal with anger, forgetfulness, sleepless nights, and nightmares. This book explains these and how they affect Dad. The moral of the story is that even though Dad gets angry and yells, he still loves his family more than anything.
